Project Goal

Collaborating to get Sun Country on the map for local television advertising...

We were contacted and contracted to be an external asset to help the internal Sun Country Airlines marketing team execute a series of shot :30 second ad spots to air on regional television and the airline’s social pages.

The idea was to “take a Sun Country day,” or to take a long weekend, a quick flight to a destination for an affordable fare with Sun Country Airlines. Life can need a reprieve with a quick vacation, especially those dealing with Minnesota construction/traffic, annoying co-workers or simply settling into the routine as a couch potato. The Sun Country team contributed the creative and Matthew directed the productions. Four total commercial spots were captured in all.

The concept and script was different in all four spots, so each was captured differently in terms of a visual style. Two of the four were set in the universe of an office mockumentary, akin to NBC’s excellent television series The Office. The other two were very simple camera setups, locked off shots on tripods, but took some creative muscle to get the scenes set to best illustrate the story.

We were scrappy in terms of these productions, stretching modest budgets as far as possible to maximize the value to this relatively small airline. Collaborating with their team was a wonderful experience – we worked as a team to execute these small productions, with each person wearing several hats on the project.

The spots aired on broadcast television as well as the Sun Country social media outlets.
