The ONE Thing to Think About Before Starting a Video Project…

I will cut straight to the point – our first goal when anyone comes to Added Element is to get clarity on the problem and determine if video is a part of the solution.

What is the problem you need to solve?

We don’t just want to sell a client a video – we want to help clients solve their problems and then collaborate with them to develop these solutions. Do you need to build awareness of your brand, a new service or offering, a new machine or location, a new milestone? Are you trying to recruit new talent or market a new role in the company? Do you need to develop training content for new or current employees?

What is the problem you need to solve? This is the question you need clarity on.

But since I have you here and you’re still reading on, a second important questions is to identify who are the customers or audience a client is trying to reach – who is this video content for? Are you trying to attract customers, new or old? Training new employees or current employees? You get the idea.

These two fundamental questions – what is the problem and who is the audience? These are crucial to understanding the goals of the project.

Once we understand these questions better, we then seek to get clear focus on how our clients will measure success. We don’t just want to create a good looking video and call it a win. We want to know specifically what impact we need the video content to have to move the needle for a client’s business. That way we know how to grade a project as a success or a failure after completion.

Below is an example of us helping one of our clients, Anytime Fitness, solve a problem.

Anytime Fitness came to us with some video needs in 2021, to create a video for their new AF Digital Key. This digital key could be stored on the Anytime Fitness app so members could get into any gym without having their key fob.

Their problem was they needed to create awareness, ramp up some excitement, for this new, unknown digital product. Their audience primarily was their current franchisees and members, but if potential new clients saw the video, that could also be a win this new digital key.

The video was shown at the yearly Anytime Fitness conference and was met with ruckus applause and excitement. Anytime Fitness franchisees had been waiting years for this, to have more digital tools in their arsenal. The video has been used online to help create even more awareness for Anytime Fitness members and has been viewed by thousands.

The video was informative, the quality was superb (that’s our standard), the question was solved and the audience was catered to.

At Added Element, we don’t just make video content. Our goal is to create a lasting impact with a client’s business — we don’t want a stable full of ‘one-off’ clients — we want to create lasting partnerships. When a client hires us, we collaborate with them and use our skills, services and experience to help address their problems.
